I just ran the wire through the hole at the bottom of the tailgate and thats it. The camera cost $24.99 plus $12.01 for S&H

The main thing I didn't like about the license plate mount was that sometimes I stepped on it when I thought I was stepping on the bumper, but I was actually stepping on the camera. That would have been a real expensive thing to replace. My head unit in my truck is a Valor DTS-660WT and works great. This head unit has a reverse camera input and an auxilliary one too. So like you thought I am going to use the other camera to mount on trailers and hook it up to the aux input. This way I can have two cameras when I need them.
Hope this helps.

Finally, after searching all night you have provided me with what I needed to see. Great job on the install. I'm looking to do the same on my truck and was thinking of this camera to connect to my Alpine w200.

I have been looking for the handle with the camera housing but was unable to find it on ebay. Now that I now I can get it from my local ford dealer.
Thanks!
