2007 Rear View Mirror with Camera

Does anyone know if they are going to make the Auto-dimming, rear view mirror with a backup camera available for the earlier F150's?

anyone know if you get that same set-up for a 2004? That Mito website doesn't have the same style back-up camera for a Ford.

Did you look on the Monitors page? That mirror will go in just about anything that runs on 12VDC. And so will all their cameras.

Question

Anyone know the part number for the Ford OEM Tailgate backup camera. Specifically the ones that are on the 2008 F-150's. I wanted to add one to my F-150, but I needed some info like is there a paint to match version and does the oem camera have a video cable that could plug in to a DVD head Unit instead of the mirror.

Yes, I got a quote from a Ford parts distributor who is usually quite low.

Back up Camera: $226.05
Rear View Mirror: $502.66
Tailgate Handle: $71.15 (black) or $104.23 (painted)
Wiring Harness in Gate: $219.99
Wiring From gate to Main Harness: Price not available yet
Wiring in roof for mirror: Price not available yet

He tells me that you can find similar backup camera for a lot less.

Would you happen to have the part number for these parts or a contact number to your parts dealer?

You might want to save yourself some money and look at something like this instead.

Got one of those at the local parts store ($99) for my wife to ease hooking up the trailer. A little tough to judge distances, but definitely helps overcome the the high tailgate on the newer trucks. Had to shim the camera in order to see the hitch ball, but an easy install otherwise.

Exclamation

Well I changed my backup camera to the Tailgate handle. I bought the OEM tailgate handle and then added an aftermarket camera. The had to modify the handle a little though. The OEM camera fits inside the handle, with the aftermarket one it sit outside of the handle and I also had to widen the hole a little, but it works very well and doesn't look that bad.

Changed from this:
Edge Camera $240.00

To this:
Tailgate Handle $109.00
Camera $25.00

I am interested in more of the details. Why, how much, what camera are you using, did you get the wiring harnes too. Why not go wireless?

I chose this method because the wiring was already there from the other camera and I plan to add a 12" Rize lift to the truck so it will be sitting pretty high. The angle from where this camera sits actually covers a big blind spot that will result from the lift height, wiring was pretty simple I just bought the wire harness that the seller of the camera sold, the link to the camera I used is below. I just ran the wire through the hole at the bottom of the tailgate and thats it. The camera cost $24.99 plus $12.01 for S&H
