Need help with CAP for f150..please help!

Guys, i have a 2006 black F150 supercrew with the 5.5' bed. I need to put a cap on it. I didn't originally because i don't really care for how they look.

Obviously there are so many out there to choose from. Can anyone recommend one that looks great with this truck? I am looking for a brand that will add to the looks rather than take away. Also any good or bad with these things will help.

So far i have looked at covermaster and Leer. Any picutres of yours to help me would also be appreciated..

thank you in advance.

I have an A.R.E. on my 2003 Supercrew and really like it. Fits well and looks good. You can even get it with a remote lock option to work with your truck remote.

I 2nd the Z series from A.R.E. You can match the headliner to a Bedrug bedliner and that looks really sharp, IMO.

I looked at the z series today. they look great but the cost was way out there. They wanted $1900 for the Z. I am getting quotes from Lear and Century for about $1400. Is it worth the extra $#500?

Hunter,

you would need to check each of those models out for yourself and compare the differences to justify the additional cost. I went with the Z series for looks, interior fit and finish and weather/dust resistence (I don't get moisture or dust in my covered bed even in the hardest rains or when driving on the dustiest roads). Plus, I wanted a cap that I could have locked while sleeping in the bed at night and you can do this with the Z series (locked from the outside but you can still open it from the inside without having to unlock it). Other models may permit this as well but the A.R.E. Z definitely does.

As Colorado mentioned, I like that the inside matches my Bedrug. I also like the trim piece along the bottom edge of the cap. Really gives it a clean look. The Z also has wide metal hinges on the back door. I'm pretty sure the Leer's are plastic.

narrowed between the Century Royal and the ARE Z. Can't decide. Both nice and the century is $400 less with all the options like fold down window, carpet etc...

have to have the one that looks the best. Anyone have an pic's of their trucks with the cap?

Thanks B&W!

Hunter, take a look at my gallery. Not a real good pic of the cap but it will give you an idea anyway. I think the A.R.E website has some images of a newer F150 with the Z cap.

Mine's being painted at the moment. I was able to pick up a used one for a great price. Also wanted to let you know, when I was shopping around, the local Leer dealer said he dosen't recomend 100XQ to anyone because of all the trouble he's had with them. He said the 100R was a much better cap but I wanted the larger windows. I read a lot of threads that I found with the search optoin with lots of satisfied customers that had the A.R.E. I have also heard that the Centurys are pretty good also. A.R.E. also has a section on their website with pictures of customers trucks if you want to see what your's would look like, I'm sure you'd find something there.

I have the A.R.E. CX series cap (pics in gallery). It is a very good quality and cheaper than the Z series. Mine was about $1200. Look for coupons on A.R.E. website. One option I would highly recommend is a tilt down front window. It makes cleaning the back cab glass and front cap glass easy.

Take a look at Century Caps

I looked for a long time and decided on a Century truck cap and it looks great. Century is made by Leer if you didn't know. You can go to there website and see all of the models that are available for the 5.5 and locate a local dealer too. They were much more affordable that A.R.E. I'd give'em a look.

Don't forget to look for a USED cap too! There are plenty out there for sale at a fraction of the price for a new one. It seems that some people buy them, then don't use them much, and don't want to store them either.
