Cool Goodbye Moon roof Deflector....

I put on this moon roof Deflector about 5 months ago over my moon roof to cut down on the wind noise when the moon roof it open. This deflector is a pricey little bugger considering it's just plastic.

Today I was minding my own business traveling down the highway with all the windows and moon roof open all the way letting the air blow crap all over the place inside the Mounty when I heard just for a second this flapping noise above my head. I look up, and just as I look up, the moon roof deflector fly off like a bat out of hell! I look behind me as I'm going down the highway, it lands on the highway rolling all over the place and got ran over by a car! Damn! That sucks I don't know how it did that, I thought I had it on there pretty tight. Kinda got me mad seeing that happen.

I'll have to order a new one and hope it stays put this time.!

If it's that self adhesive double sided foam tape that's holding it on, it doesn't like to stick to paint sometimes. When I put visors on my wifes Amigo, I used a pencil to trace the footprint of the tape, and then I stripped that area with a good cleaner and rinsed it off with a cloth dampened with Windex. The've been on over two years now. The first ones I just washed the vehicle and stuck them on, lasted about 3 months before they started peeling off.

That double stick doesn't adhere to dirt either, or ashes from burnt pantlegs, or feathers from pigeons.

Sounds like a union worker was involved in this process to me.

Try cleaning the area with rubbing alcohol before using double sided tape next time.

No, it wasn't self adhesive. It was held on by two clips that hook underneath the moon roof and get tightened into place that way. It's weird it took off like it did knowing how it was put on. I'll have to watch it next time I get one to make sure what ever happened this time doesn't do it again! lol

I'm not really sure why this Thread was moved though? This thread is just talking about a deflector and now it's in other models?

You need to start posting your threads in the correct forum. I will be deleting them from now on.
Have a nice day.

For the most part I have been posting in the right forum. This is no big deal but talking about a deflector taking off is GENERAL Discussion. So now that I own a Mountaineer everything I post now gets moved to GD even though it's not something to do with it?? Please let me know what about this thread has to do with other models cause I don't see it. I don't mind you moving my post, but once again I'm asking for a reason why this was moved since it's talking about a Deflector.

You have a nice day too.
