Gearing help

I'm looking into changing the 3.08 gear on my 99 V-6 5 speed. I had larger tires put on - 265/75/16 and lost what little pep it had with the stock 235s. Any idea what gear to change to? I mostly city drive. Should I also change to limited slip? Any advice would be helpful - also does anyone know a good shop in the L.A. area to do this? I'm in West Covina.

Thanks, ND

3.73 or 4.10 would really bring your truck back to life. Now would be the time to change to L/S. I think you would like Eaton-Posi or Auburn Pro series L/S best.

I have three Ford trucks with L/S. One has OEM track-loc, one has Auburn Pro, and one has Eaton-Posi. I like the Eaton the best. Trac-loc is wimpy (but better than open diff.).

Being from Midwestern USA, I don't know the geographics of California. If you are close to Anaheim--You may want to check with Jerry @ Unitrax. I know Jerry and his work comes well reccomended. Good luck, gearman

I've read some posts that say 4.10 would be overkill for a manual V-6. Is that true?

3.08 to 3.73 is a pretty big jumg and should do what you want. I think a 4.10 is a little low for what you want to do. I agree about the eaton though. It is much better than stock but i have no experience with the auburn. I think the eaton is cheaper too.
