9.75, Aluminum driveshaft, differentials

I have three questions:

What rear axle comes standard on 5.4L extended cab F150's, the 8.8" of the 9.75"?

Does anyone make an aluminum drive shaft for the extended cab F150?

What are people's opinions on the various limited slip differentials for the 9.75?
I have seen a number of posts on the Auburn, Ford and Eaton differentials but was wondering if anyone had compared them...

Thanks in advance,
-Don

My '00 F-150 Supercab 5.4L 4x4 came with the 9.75.
Don't know if that's standard, but that's what it has.
Can't help with any of the other questions.

Hello sirket,

1. A 4.6 comes with 8.8 and a 5.4 comes with 9.75.

2. Not that I know of.

3. I had the Auburn in a pervious truck in an 8.8 and it was great, but I am waiting until 1st quarter next year for Eaton's selectable locker "E-Locker" for the 9.75. As far as a comparison they both are good, with Auburn maybe a little better from what I have herd and read. I currently have the Ford LS and it does not limit the differential slip very much, don't get it.

rkjerue,

Thanks for the info on the LS and the rear end. My truck has a 9.75 and I was just wondering if that was standard. As for the LS, I wasn't going to go with the Ford unit, but I was definitely curious about the Eaton versus the Auburn.

As for the drive shaft I am probably going to have a custom chromoly shaft made if and when I destroy my current shaft. That all depends on how much power I eventually try to push through it.
