What if anything is out there kit wise to convert a 2002 F150 from 4X2 to 4X4? What is the cost (generally speaking) etc.? How hard is it? I have a friend that is trying to decide if it is better to buy a 2005 or convert his 2002.

Not sure if there is any kits availible but the costs involved would be staggering! You'd have to replace the entire front suspension and probably the steering too. Then you have the transfercase and front drive shaft. Then you'd have to get a shorter rear ds. The front hubs and maybe even the brakes as well.

With the availiblity of F-150's out there I'd have to say he should look for a 4x4 model to start with. But if he has an emotional attachment to this perticular truck then I guess it could be done. Get another wrecked 4x4 donor truck and go from there.

It is an easy conversion....

Step 1. Sell and or trade in the 02 4x2
Step 2. Buy the 05 4x4

lol Sorry about the little smartass there, but it is just not feasable, cost wise.
