Differential

Well i have a 1997 f 150 xlt Its not much yet. I just repainted it white and debagged it except for the Ford logos.

K well thats not my question LOL

I wanna switch out my rear differential to get more power. What should i be lookin at. Someone told me to get ...well basically he said it makes both wheels turn instead of just the right one. I think he called it POSI. Is that what I should be looking for ? Or should i be looking at something else? I already have cold air intake and a flowmaster muffler so plz dont suggest that as something to do. If there is anything else i could do plz tell me though. Thankz

P.S. I have stock 16 inch rims but with 31 inch Pro comp all terrains

A lower gear ratio would help it go faster off the line. A traction lock rear would keep both rear wheels working together. If you don't want to change the gear ratio, a powertrax locker can be installed by an amateur without disturbing the gears.
Have you checked the tab on the rear cover to see what gear ratio you have and if it has a traction lok?

Is it 2wd or 4wd? If 4x4, you need to change both sets of gears, not just the rear.
