Hello all;

I have an awful sound at 70 mph that seems to be coming from either the transfer case or rear end. I have taken the rear diff apart but found no obvious problems. It sounds like a muffler pipe vibrating against the floorboard (but it is not the exhaust system - of this i am certain).

Then it occurred to me, I used 4-hi a few days ago. Could my tranfer case be stuck in 4x4 or failed to disengage to the point that a highway run could create a noise? The noise is particularly bad when I let off of the gas.

My 4x4 selector is the electronic switch on the dash and lectric motor on the transfer case.

Any suggestions are welcomed.
