cv axle nut size

I posted this in suspension and then relized after the fact that I did it in the wrong section. I am just wondering if anyone knows the cv axle nut size at the hub of a 1997 f-150 4wd. Thanks in advance!!!!!

As I recall its about a 26mm ish. I haven't had to take one off for a couple years now. A crecent wrench or a vise grip will work in a pinch. I've had to use both of them to do this repair along side the road before.

Best advice I can give you........you own the truck in question and its not hard to pop off the center cap and nut retainer. If you're nice to the local hardware store they'll let you try a few to find the one that fits. Otherwise just buy a Chilton manual, its listed in there.

I'm not sure on the Metric size. I have used a standard socket on several 1997 F-150s with no problems.

The Spindle Nut is 1 3/8" and Torque is 250 lb/ft

Here is the link to a thread where I posted the entire instructions to replace Ball Joints. I've kind of perfected the procedure by replacing them in 3 1997 plow trucks this last winter and spring.
