New Rear End - need a little help

I have a 1995 F150 Supercab 2WD with the 302 5.0L

it still has the original rear end with a measly 3.31 gear ratio.

I am considering upgrading to 3.55 or 3.73. Will 3.55 be a big difference and enough to give me some more rear end torque.

I would also like to possibly get a posi-trac or locker ... I do a lot of hunting and fishing and think this should help get the boat up the ramp better (and tow it).

Any opinions? your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

No, you won't feel a big difference going from 3.31 to 3.55. Changes of .25 or so aren't generally worth the money, hassle, and risk of installation problems. It is true that every little bit helps, but I minimally make changes of .50 or so. 3.73 is a good all around ratio and 4.10s are great if you prefer towing, street performance, or off-roading over highway mileage. This is considering stock tire height.
