Clunk on Acceleration

Clunk on Acceleration
At around 3-4 thousand miles a clunk has found its way into my driveline. Intermittent and only a single clunk but still very noticeable and staring to bug me. So I searched the board and a Slip Yoke problem came up. Armed with this golden information I headed to the Dealership. While I barraged the service manager with my new found knowledge, he just smiled and said it will be fixed and not to worry. I'm thinking he's just going to slap some grease on it and send me on my way. Well they kept my truck overnight and replaced the whole Drive Shaft. The service manager said there isn't a TSB on this problem for the 99 F150. Wish I could keep the old drive shaft cause there so purrty. Anyway Ford to the rescue and my truck is silent again. Rex

Hey Rex,
Does/ did your clunck only occur under acceleration, or was it there while stopping also? The drive shaft is the only thing that Ford did not replace on my drivetrain. From tranny to gears its all bbeen replaced. Have an intermittent noise while stopping with OD on. Now Ford says its normal so suck it up and be on your way! How long since the new drive shaft? I'm getting a shft, just not the one that helps!! Thanks

Sorry I responded to your other post before I checked this one. Anyway yes the truck was also clunking when stopping and seemed more noticable in O.D. The Service Manager said something about the aluminum and steel together in the driveshaft. But I think he was just jiveing. all though not a single noise for well over 1000 miles. So I'm O.K. with that. Rex
