I thank you guys one and all for the continuing info i get here from everyone. By the way the oil was wayyyyyyyyyyyyy bad looked like chocolate milk when i emptied it.

No wonder my cover leaked and I had a mess inside the housing. The case, gears, bearings, and cover were all coated with a sticky residual gook (whatever is left of the RTV).

RTV silicone gasket sealer is NOT compatible with synthetic oil. Do NOT use it. Instead, use "Ultra Grey", "Ultra Black", or "Ultra Blue" by Permtex(sp?). You can get it just about any where (Auto Zone, Napa, Schucks, CarQuest, etc). Wal-Mart does not carry any though. It should be hanging real close to the RTV. One tube is about $4 and will seal 5 or so diff covers.

Hit it with some PB blaster or other penatrating oil, then let it soak for a while. Use a 1/2" torque wrench with a 3/8" reducer to persuade it loose. If it's still not co-operating, keep applying the oil for a few days. She'll come loose eventually.
