tag should be right...
tjsfx4,
I don't think 3.73's were available until 03 (might be wrong here). If you don't trust the door tag, crawl under and look for a tag on the rear diff cover. If it reads 3L55..then you have a 3.55 as the door tag indicated.
Possible they got both wrong,...but unlikely.

For 02 the 3.73's only where available for Supercrew and 7700 group 4x4's, so if you don't have one of those trucks you have the 3.55's. A limited slip deferential was optional not standard on all trucks even the FX4, so you may not have one.

Limited Slip was not even "standard" on FX4 optioned trucks..... The "FX4" option is the same as the old "Off Road" option was earlier... Skid plates and different shocks, plus the stickers.... That's about it....
You still had to order LS as an option if that's what you wanted.... Not too bad of a deal at only around $150 or so. I think you could get 3.73 as a option from 2000 on up?? I had a friend with a 2000 F150 that had 3.73's and the LS.. Both were listed as opions even thou his had the "Off Road" stickers on the bed!
