Question Worn Ring and Pinion Gear on 2003

Help - 2003 F150 going back to shop for the 6th time:

#1 - Replaced Bearing - 3000 miles
#2 - Replaced Ring/Pinion
#3 - Needed to order parts
#4 - Replaced Bearing/ parts
#5 - Found Ring Pinion Gear worn - Replaced
#6 - Stills wines - But louder and now has viberation

Have you checked the u-joints?

Did the noise ever go away after the repairs? Possibly the ring and pinion were not correctly set up.

6th Time to Fix

The New Gear Set was put in. Left the dearlership and the whine was louder than ever. Took truck back to dealership - 6th time - Truck is now at shop -

Don't let the dealer touch the rear end, sounds like they need to go back to school to learn how to adjust the shims and all the other stuff.

Being warranty work - Cannot take it any place else. But who's knows - Maybe.......

Take it to another dealer. Repeat rear axle failures are either a parts quality or setup quality concern, and given five or six shots, I'm inclined to think it's the latter.

Dumb question - when did you buy this, and from where?

If you have purchased it in the last 18 months, I believe that your vehicle could technically be considered a lemon, because normally the definition of such is a vehicle that has been to the shop at least 3 times within an 18-month period for the same issue. If it has, then you have grounds to demand some sort of restitution w/r/t the Lemon Law. However, I'd make sure that is the case in your state.
