broken rear end

this is my 8.8. on monday i started getting a jerking sensation at 40mph and above which quickly got worse. today i took the cover off and this is what i found. the carrier is broken in two places and the differential still "works". i can't believe it didn't come apart on me while driving. i put about 300km on it when it first started happening. i think the ring and pinion might actually still be salvagable but i get the feeling the pinion might be bent if that's possible.

time to start shopping around for an aftermarket posi or locker that can handle the torque.

anyone have opinions on what is better?

you wont be putting a posi in there unless you swich your axle to a chevy(posi is a GM LS) if you want a LS than i would go with auburn gear or detroit tru trac, if you want a locker i would go with the good ole detroit locker, i would replace the ring and pinion and all bearings and seals, good luck
