Slipping when turning?

Sorry if this has been posted before, I only searched a page or two, but when I turn at slow speeds, it feels like something in the differential is slipping, because it starts to vibrate, and make noises? And I only notice when I turn. It is a 4x4 if it matters. Thanks.

I had this same problem in my '03 4x4 Screw. I took it back to Ford under warranty and I think they had to replace a shim or 2 in the rear end. Don't know what it would cost to get it done. The truck wasn't there very long and I hope a couple of shims would cost that much. I'll see if I can dig up the service report. Hope this helps.

Is this happening when you are in 4x4 mode, or 4x2 mode?

Could be your L/S Clutch pak in the rear end. Could start by changing fluid and make sure the proper additive is used. It needs to slip a bit when turning. If you had the vehicle serviced lately and the fluid was changed, the proper amount of additive may not have been added. Or it's just time to change the fluid anyway.

good luck.

4x2 mode. Hopefully it is just the fluid though. I will bring it in asap.

Did they replace the clutch pak or did they just add the friction modifier? I have the same problem with my EXPY.

Try changing the fluid first. It is much cheaper to change the fluid, than to have the clutches replaced. It it still does it after a fluid change, then you need to get other service done to it. Your Expy will use 75W-140 synthetic oil and probably a friction modifier additive. You can get the fluid at any auto parts store much cheaper than the dealer stuuf, but get the FM at the dealer. If you want to know how to do the work, ask or run a search for "Rear Diff Fluid" or " Rear Differential Fluid" and you will get alot of good replys.
