I have a 2001 Ford f150 4.6, auto,2-wheel drive, XL Work truck model, where can I look to see what the ratio is? Is it somewhere on the rear axle housing?

What size rear end do these trucks have?

The actual numbers will be stamped on the metal axle tag (just like they've been on every axle for the last 50 years). The axle code will also be on the door sticker inside the door jamb. There's a chart on here somewhere that lists what they all are.

Indeed, it is likely the 8.8, BUT, there's no telling what may have been put on the truck without looking at the axle tag. The axle tag tells all.
