anandsihra I gotta laugh. I have a 99' that looks just like yours. Even to the 7-lug wheels. If I got anything dirty I hook up the old utility trailer and away I go. I hate to drive on wet dirt roads. I have 4X4 and skid plates. I also have an 89' Big Bronco that looks like new. I bought that new. Man I love asphalt. LOL

It's good for dirt bikes and heavilly modified trucks. Not very good for ATV's.

We all should plan on heading out to that dirt road and maybe that parking lot sometime

My 2wd has a limited slip, along with bigger tires than most 4x4 F-150s. I don't take it mud bogging, but I have taken it down places where any normal drivers wouldn't take their 4x4s. I've also been the recovery truck for several 4x4s. I easily pulled out my friend's Landcruiser with front and rear locking diffs, and he was buried in the mud so far that I couldn't open up my door (I parked my truck and rode with him). My 4x4 came stock with the same size tires you have... I would have a hard time believeing you were at a dead stop in mud as deep as your doors, maybe it was water... I have pulled out far more 2wd drives than I can count on my fingers and toes... 2wd trucks can make it places only if you keep up speed, without speed your SOL.

c'mon people. A truck is made to USE. you don't have to abuse it and rag it out, but scared of putting 2x4 lumber in the bed???? I'm sorry I just don't get it.

Yes, I knew that, but you make it sound like you were in the mud while pulling him out. If you want to talk pulling... In 4x4 low I could probably drag my buddys jeep down a paved road... Whats your point?

In my off road club you are considered a sissy (since I can't say what you are really called) if you are caught using 4x4. It'd better be your last resort, if anyone see's your front tires spinning you'll get razzed for the rest of the year or longer about it.
Last time I had to use 4wd, I had buried my Cherokee to the bottom of the side glasses before I gave in and wimped out with 4wd. It was to late by then, no one could move it, no trees to winch from, hooked on to several other vehicles and was just dragging them. So we went and got the recovery tractor, tractor couldn't even budge me, I had to winch from the tractor + 2 full size suburbans chained together. That bad and I still hear about the time that I had my jeep in 4wd, 3 years later.

Personally, I'll need 4wd in an automatic before I would in a standard.
If I had my choice of manual 2wd or automatic 4wd I'm taking the 2wd first.

Now the only person in my house that owns a 4wd is my wife.

I'm no sissy!
