Hey everybody...is there a way to tell what gears I have?(without looking at the rear axle) My truck is a 99 F150 scab xlt 2wd 4.2V6/auto. It came with the 235/70/16's and no towing package and is an open diff. Is it most likely the 3.08?? Im at work and looking at the new "four wheeler" magazine, and there is a new calculator for figuring out what gear I need to get back to stock. I have 305/70/16's now and was thinking if it's a 3.08 now, Im going to go with 4.56's to get back stock performance, along with some more pep. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. What all gears came in my year truck?? ALso, what tuner is the best for my truck? will I gain any towing capacity?? thanks in advance.....

 

All you need do is look at the tag on the rear diff cover. It will tell you what gear you have and whether it is a limited slip unit or not. ie; 3 08, or 3 L 08
