gears

I have a 1995 F150 4X4. I have 4" of suspention lift and 35's. Currently i have stock gears which are 3:55's. I need to change so i don't wear out my transmition. I have heard that 4:10's would be good. Is this true? I want something stronger but i don't want to lose a lot of gas millage. What would you recomend? I also need to know cost of doing this. I went to a transmision shop and they told me about 2500$ for front and back. Is this rediculous?

4.10's would bring you back to stock power with 35" tires... If you want more torque go to 4.56's, but your going to lose mpg... I just upgraded mine and 4wheelparts did it for $700.00.

i would recomend 4.56 for 35" with a stock ratio of 3.55 this would only put you at about 50 or so rpm over what you were with stock tires, $2500 is way to much, it shouldnt cost more that $500 per axle, call around to some drivetrain shops i bet you can find a better price, good luck

I agree with Bigtruck311, 4.56's are the way to go. I'm having new gears and limited slips put in both axles with an aluminum finned differential cover for $2000. Hope this helps.

I vote 4:56. $2,000 seems a little high.
