Royal Purple

Question,

I am changing the gear oil in my 1997 F150 4x4. The manual calls for 75/140. I coulnd't find it anyware. I found some Royal Purple 85/140. Will that work? I heard it was a good brand but I'm more worried about the numbers.
Thanks!

In my opinion, 85-140 should be fine.

Do you have the limited slip rear end? If yes, you may need to add the frition modifier. although some of the products out there state that it is not required with their oil.

I have found that Walmart has a 75-140 synthetic oil. I am told that their Super Tech line of oils are produced by Quaker State.

Personally, I use Amsoil. It is expensive, but it makes me feel good that I am using it, and that is ALL THAT MATTERS!!!!!
