Unhappy Okay, Need help

I am getting 4:56 gears put in my 1997 f1504x4 on Monday. Anyhow, I want to check the true ratio I have since I have 35's on my truck.
I jacked it up, put it in neutral, marked the driveline and tire and then I gave it a spin. Well, The driveline starts to turn then stops!? Seems if I put pressure on the tire it tries to spin.
What is going on? I tried it in drive, neutral, key on and still am having problems. Please help ASAP,
THANKS,
Jason

Okay, I figured out I need to spin my driveline by hand and count from there. I marked the tire and the driveline. The driveline span almost 5 1/2 times before my tire did one full rep. Whats that mean? What is the way to figure that ratio? I know I don't have 5:50 gears. Remember, I am running 315/75/16, almost 35's. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Check the axle tag. Unless it's been changed, it'll list it on the axle tag and the door sticker.

As for your method, did both wheels turn the same amount? I suspect one turned more than the other giving the erroneous reading.

Hey, I'm not sure how exact this is, but go to www.4lo.com (l is lower case L). on the left the have some easy calculators to use. Just plug and chug and there is a spot to put in your tire size old gear ratio and stuff like that. several different calculations. Have fun with it.....

Thanks for the replies, I put in 4:56 gears. I can now pull my trailer without any probs. I wouldn't have spent $1800.00 if I didn't pull the trailer though. I am not that impressed but it is nice having the posi in the back. I do have 4 wheel drive so I can't act as if it were a race car.
See Ya!
