Post How do I know which rear end I have?

I have looked on the door stickers and tried to find a way to decode the VIN number. Am I gonna have to crawl under the truck to find out what it ratio it is? And how do I know if it is limited slip or not? Thanks

Exclamation

Tell us your axle code from the door sticker, and we'll tell you what ratio you have.

However, I bet you have either a
(H9) 3.55 limited slip
(19) 3.55 non-limited slip

I have the H9 3.55 limited slip, that is the better one right? the one that is harder to get stuck or whatever. If I am wrong please explain it to me.

Cool

You can look on your differential housing cover bolt tag. It should have 3 sets of numbers. Two in a row and the third underneath. Example: Mine has 3L55, which is a 3.55:1 with limited slip. If you do not have the L, then you do not have limited slip. the other numbers are the gear ratio.

Talking

Step one: Reach out and pinch the rear end. If it hurts its your rear end and not someboy elses.

Step two: Grasp each cheak with each hand. If your hands are full you have the big rear end If not, you have the small rear end. If you like it you have the limited slip rear end!

Is the 19 a posi-trac or just a one wheel spinner.
I have the 3.55 ls but my g'pa's code said 19. Just wondering.

Question

Hey,

So if I have an I8 code this means I have a 98 non-limited slip axle?

TIA

JGG,
You are the owner of a 3.55 NON limited-slip if your axle code is 19. that meens you have a one-wheel spinner.

Mark G,
If you have the axle code 18, then you have a 3.08 NON limited-slip axle.

May the wind always be at your back,
