Socal858 got some questions?
I noticed that you have 4.10's in your truck and I was wondering what size tires you are running? I just got 35's on my truck and my stock 3.55's just arent cuttin it at all. I am considering 4.56's but would like some opinions from people with experience with larger tires and gears.
Was there a noticeable power gain with the 4.10's?
Do you wish you would have gone with 4.56's?
What kind of RPMs are you at around 70mph?
Oh yeah if anyone else would like to respond as well it would be appreciated.
Thanks
Doug

hey bud
i am running BFG AT's in 315/75R16. in terms of true height they measure around 33.6 inches or so tall inflated and mounted (the same as most 35s except swampers). 4.10s gave me a decent speed boost and i am shifting at the correct spots. i run a flat 2000 RPMs (GPS confirmed) at 70
i actually wish i had gone wtih 4.30s, a 2wd exclusive ratio. but then again i am a 4.6
my recommendations depend on your driving preferences. if you are primarily a freeway commuter or you need to drive higher speeds dont go above 4.10s as a 4x4 or 4.30 as a 2wd.
you will not be able to cruise faster than grandma speed on the freeway without hitting ridiculous rpms with 4.56s on 35s . . i dont understand how peopel can put up wtih that. i cant cruise below 75 and sometimes 80
if you drive mostly on surface streets and barely hit hte freeway (or you can go 65 all day without going insane) i would recommend 4.56s

Thanks for all the info. It sounds like I need to go with the 4.10's as well. I don't do a whole lot of hwy driving (once a month)but when I do its usually a road trip (250 mi one way)and I usually drive around 80-85 mph. I wish they made a 4.30 for the 4X4. Oh well thanks for a informative reply, I appreciate it.
