Question Timing Belt Replacement?

I have a '97 Ford F-150 XLT 4x4, 4.6L V8, with 75,000 actual miles on it. Can anyone tell me if I should have the timing belt replaced soon? From what I hear it is recommended to change them when mileage reaches about 60K on most cars, but I didn't know if trucks are any different. And is it also a good idea to go ahead and replace the water pump ?

Also, my truck has never had a routine service inspection (50K, 60K, etc. ). Does anyone know if it would be a good idea to have someone go over the truck to have it checked out? It has been garage kept, well taken care of, and never driven off-road. Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks !

If it had a timing belt, that might be true. These v8s have a timing chain. They will last a lot longer than 60k. Maybe think about it if over 150k.

Modular Ford V8s use timing chains, not belts, and replacement is rarely - if ever - needed. The only time I've ever replaced them is when the tensioners and/or guides become faulty/damaged, and that usually happens from neglect and lack of maintenance.
