i posted a few days ago about using my 4x4 going from 4hi to 4low...heard a loud pop...then got the "wrench icon" on my dash....

took it to the dealer....motor went out....

How does that happen?
i dont use it very often...are there 2 motors one for 4 hi and one for 4 low...

good thing its still under warantee

 

That's how it happens - neglect. NOT using a vehicle (or even PARTS) is worse on them than USING them.

This isn't the same model as your truck's, but it's pretty similar. There's only the 1 motor.

It's not a common occurrence. The motors aren't anywhere near as common a failure item as they once were. I'm curious what exactly failed though...

I herd the loud pop on my truck the other day. I was in 4 low climbing out of a ditch, when I got on the road I switched out of 4wd and stomped the gas . When it shifted out of 1st. it poped. Now I don't have 4 low, 4 hi still works would it be the motor or the T.C. its self? any help would be great.
