front driveline
original owner and just when i get all the kinks outta this truck it throws me a curve.
anyone have the front <horizontal> outer u joints fail on them? i think mine have. when hubs are locked<Warn manuals> and xfer case is NOT engaged, when steering from side to side the steering is labored and kinda pops. when hubs are locked and xfer case is in
4x4 high when turning its even worse. when the hubs are unlocked and the trucks in 2 wheel drive its ok when on a straight course but when u turn to the limit either right or left it will kind of pop. the only thing i can think of is that one or both ujoints are binding up. i took both rotors off this weekend and the ujoints look marginal at best. sorry to be so long. thanx!

Might want to try jacking it up with transfer case in 2WD, but hubs locked, with the steering hard over to the limit. Can then turn the wheel thats off the ground by hand, and can see/hear axle u-joint at maximum angle. Will be turning the inside of front diff and front driveshaft, so will be some load on the joints.
