Is my 8.8 Solid enough for 35's ?

When i first bought my truck an '05 F150 4x4 w/4.6, i asked a dearlership mechanic if my 4.10 gears from a 8.8, if if would fit my truck....guy told me i had a nine inch so i sold'em.

Well here i am reading the forums and found out that my axle is a little 8.8 since ford did'nt think the 4.6 desearved the 9"......

So back to my question, is it strong enough? I've read that they can handle them but are not suited for such a job. Should i switch it out?

Or are they strong enough to handle 35's up to 37's?

If you baby it, maybe... If you drive it like a truck, you'll start eatin' them up. JMC went through three axles after his 5.4 swap before switching to a 9.75.

I was in the salvage yard today and was looking at some rear ends....what are the years that the 9.75 came out in?
