Are there any downsides to doing this, such as engine strain?

Also, this will not affect my Limited slip will it?

Thanks.
You should refer to your previous thread in which you asked the exact same questions and I answered them very thoroughly. Oh and your LS will operate exactly the same.

Honestly, I think your buddy is full of crap. A lower gear ratio will improve acceleration at ALL speeds. The only way this wouldn't be true is if somehow, because of super low gears and tiny tires you managed to hit your rev limiter at a relatively low speed. That's pretty much impossible though. I'm not an expert, but I would think that in order for something to affect low end grunt but not top end acceleration, it would have to be an engine mod, such as a programmer or supercharger. Lower gears should give quicker acceleration throughout the entire range of vehicle speeds.

Yup.

For some reason, some folks think that "taller gears help high speed acceleration while lower gears help low-speed acceleration" but this is simply not the case.

Trust me, my truck accelerates nicely in OD with 4.10s, much more satisfying than when it had 3.31s.

Yeah I did glance back at it and once again I appreciate all of your help. The reason why I am asking this question is because in the previous thread I was asking about 4.10s. I am now leaning towards 4.56s, and I wanted to make absolutely sure that they will not be too much. I just want to make sure I cover everything before I put this much money into my truck....

Thanks.
