this something i no almost nothing about so nething would help... i have a 4.6l... w a modified air intake and nothin after that yet... but im workin on it... i just wanted to go a ahead an start reseaching different gear ratio's and what not to do... please let me no wat u have had experince with... ive heard 4:10 works good with stree tires but would 4:56 be to much

 

I have 3:73LS in my truck and in my '87 Mustang GT. Best all round street gear IMO. Now if you plan on adding some 35" or larger tires, or tow a ginormous trailer, then look into getting 4:10's. If you have 35"+ tires AND tow a ginormous trailer, then get the 4:56.

 

I have a 01 Screw 4x4 with a 5.4, and I am putting on 285/75/16 mud terrains, and I will be stepping up to a 4.10. From what I have heard, that will be the best all around tire for that particular tire size, and with the amount of towing I do (3-4 times a month) If you are stepping up a couple tire sizes and need more bottom end, a 4.10 would be the best gear for you. The 4.56 is WAYYYY to steep of a gear

 

I also have 33's and jumped from 3.55 to 4.10's. The best gearset was the 4.30 ratio, but I couldn't get my hands on them. If you are running anything smaller than 33's I don't think that 4.56's would be a smart choice---unless you like to drag race......or you like to burn through tires and gas like toilet paper.
