I rolled the worm gears out and need help

I have a 2003 F150, 5.4, auto, 4wd. The differential tag reads;V 919 A, L55 9 75 2k17. I had the right axle out and when taking the left side out fought with the park brake pads ( didn't know to back it off). I rolled the axle to get off brake pad and found later that the worm gears are now out of position. Can anyone tell me how to get them rolled back where they need to go?

Those aren't worm gears - they're bevel gears, but they're usually called the "spider" gears. Just put one of the axles back in & turn it while holding the carrier (having the trans in P with the d'shaft connected will do it). The gears will slide back where they go.
