Downshift clunk
#16
I've tried running with the OD off at the suggestion of one of the mechanics that I had look into this problem. It does reduce the number of occurances when it clunks but it does not eliminate it. I really have no clue as to why it clunks, maybe there is to much "slop" between the torque converter and the input shaft of the trans? I dont know, I'm sick of hearing it's a "normal condition" from Ford.
I think its more about the dealers not wanting to do any warrenty work for any reason, than they cant find a problem. I'm very sure if the vehicle was out of warrenty they would know exactly how to fix it. I also don't think it's at the FMC level, it's at the dealer level. Ford Motor Company better start working more with their dealers and in turn the dealers will start treating their customers the way they should. This is the way to preserve their precious market share.
Sorry for the rant, you just get me started with darn clunk.
