Traction Control
#1
Welcome, TGB,
Ford already offers a traction control system. It's called Traction-Lok. Other manufacturers use a similar method called Posi-traction.
I can't tell you exactly how it works, but I can tell you it does work, I have it in my '98. If one wheel starts to slip, the other one will get the power applied to it, thereby increasing traction. Without it, just one wheel would spin if it loses traction. This is available mostly on rear-wheel drive trucks and cars. Front wheel drive cars use a different method of traction control (the car applies the brakes to only the wheel that is spinning.)

Thanks for the replies, When I say traction control I am talking about all wheel drive. A system that will allow me to to drive down a dry stretch of pavement hit a patch of ice or a snowdrift and have traction from the front or the rear tires, diverting traction from the tires that slip to the tires that grip. Similar to the all wheel drive system on a subaru.
