metal rubbing noise in left front on 02 screw 4x4

i have a metal "rubbing or grinding?" noise on the left front of my 02 screw 4 by and its driving me crazy!! i have checked the following: tires, brakes, tie rods,ball-joints all ok-. it goes into 4wheel hi and low ok,could this be the wheel bearings? i know that the 4 bys have the sealed hubs on them b/c the shift on the fly feature, or could this be the cv joints or axle shaft? i cant find my shop manual b/c i just moved. has anyone else had this same problem? my truck has 49xxx miles on it. is this normal for this milage and or is this a common problem on four bys? Wannell please help if your out there!!

You shouldn't have any grinding noise at 49K. Does it do it going straight or while turning?

both straight or turning when i did the brakes the rotors looked really good so i did not turn them, i just used a red scotchbrite disc on my drill to clean them up per my dads advice,i greased all the caliper guide pins and used disc brake quiet on the backs of the pads, im thinking it might be the anti-rattle clip on the inside of the caliper does this make sense to anyone?

You might wanna jack up that wheel and see if it wobbles. I had an 03 that sounded nasty and I thought it was the brakes, turned out to be the hub assembly. In MD I was told by several places that it was only a dealer part. Just over $300 and about 30 minutes of work. Pretty simple.

ive done that and it DOESNT wobble. my dad rode w/ me this weekend and he thinks it might be a flat spotted tire? has anyone heard of this and i am running the factory good 4 junk wrangler rt/s's and have a little over 50k on them and still have legal decent tread altho the inside edge might be chopping out. wating for xmas bonus to get new shoes on her.

His do not have "hubs" like the 04 up.
More than likely it is either brakes or it's mountings, CV joints, or bearings. Or even the dust cover.

Stock ride height? Maybe you've got something slightly rubbing the rim when the suspension flexes. Any marks on the inside of the rims?

I have the same year vehicle and same issue at 50K. Flange on left front CV boot rubbed against coupling as it rotated. Added a little lithium grease a contact point and no more "rubbing noise." Rest of the vehicle . . . well !
