Arrow Did Ford offer a 4.10 or 4.56 gear ratio in a 92-96 F-150?

Hey,

Did Ford offer the 1992-1996 F150s with a 4.10 or 4.56 gear ratio, or was that f-250 and up? I want to do a swap and I need a whole front end(my truck was wrecked), so it'd be easier to find a whole 4.10 front end and the rear end to match than swap out the physical gears (since ive got everything from "hub to hub" out of the truck now... )

If those gear ratios were not offered in the 92-96 f150s, will a straight axle out of a f250 bolt up to it instead?

Someone whos done a lift has had to have done a swap....

Thanks!

You'll find a lot more info about this by searching the old threads on FSB. Just spend some time reading before you post because people get testy when they're asked the same question 25,000 times.

On the door sticker, check the first 2 digits of the AXLE code. The first digit tells the chassis weight & type of diff; the 2nd tells the ratio; if there's a 3rd digit (4WD only), it means the front diff is limited slip. In the first digit, 1 is the code for most 1/2-ton open diffs; 2 can be 1/2- or 3/4-ton open; H is a 1/2-ton limited slip. (Any letter in the first digit means L/S.) In the 2nd digit, 2 = 2.73; 3 = 5.13; 4 = 3.54; 5 = 4.10; 6 = 3.73; 7 = 3.31; 8 = 3.08 (or sometimes 4.88); 9 = 3.55; 4.56 is not a factory ratio.

H5 is the stock code for a limited slip 4.10 1/2-ton rear axle.
25 is a 1/2-ton open 4.10 .
72 is a 2-ton open 4.63 .

Ford typically geared the front axle 0.01 higher (numerically LOWER) than the rear, so a truck with 4.10 rear gears would have 4.09 fronts.

Unhappy someone PLEASE help me!

I DID do research. Ive spent TWO WEEKS trying to come up with some answers. Ive spent MANY nights up late instead of going to bed with my wife, TRYING to find an answer to this question....

So, this would imply that ford offered 4.10 gears in a f150? H5 or 15 then right? (limited vs open)

Thanks,
Roger
