Identify gimmicks and stay away from them. Get a scangauge II and use it to curb your driving habits. I hope you don't live in an area that has to run winter blend fuel like I am having to right now. It sux. You can find info for the scangauge II at www.scangauge.com. Efans, underdrive pulleys, cat-back exhausts, tuners, removing significant weight for daily driving, etc.

you will not see any gains with scangauge, it doesnt modify the computer or truck at all. all it does is provide you with information. you can use this info to change your driving habits to gain more MPG that way

the other parts he mentioned will give you a few more mpg, but will run you around 2000 just for parts.

choosing the right gas can help as well. i usto do trips from maryland to atlanta and when i used shell gas i got around 60 miles more out of a tank of gas. avoid the cheap one off places. chose a pump from a reputable source

hope this helps!

im not sure but it seems a little extreme just to gain a little gas mileage. if i were you i would stick with the big 3. Intake, Exhaust,Custom Tuner. these mods should put you around 1500ish and you should see some noticeable performance gains as well as mileage.

i have intake and exhaust and i get around 21mpg freeway and 15 mpg city. im waiting for the cash to get a custom tuner. if you want more info on that i would ask the guys in the chips, programmer, forum. they know way more then i do about that subject

a few other ideas to shave down the gas bill are tonnou cover, a good highway radial tire, tire pressure, and regular fluid changes

You can buy a lot of gas with $3K.
There's very little you can do to make your mileage better. Certainly nothing that will net your investment back anytime soon. The factory woulda done it already.

Replacing your mechanical engine cooling fan with an electric fan will give you the most MPG per dollar spent.

That's not a bad idea. For me it'd be for the extra horsies. Any kits that don't make you "thread" through the fins of the radiator? I'd like to see a really good kit. I've read too many posts about leaks from the mounts for the fans or from the probe, bad relays, melted wiring, etc. A whole replacement shroud and a TC into the thermostat housing would be the most robust setup IMO.

The best thing you can do is take some lead out of that right foot of yours, but besides that a intake, exaust, regearing, programmer, Electric fans, royal purple oil, ive done all of these and im getting ok, i got 13.6 stock, 11.2 lifted on 37s, just regeared and a edge programmer and getting 13.6-15mpg, thats city

I have the Flex-a-lite FAL 270 and it is one of the best kits. It's also one of the most expensive at around $550.00 bananas.

underdrive pullies will help some. will lighten the drag created by the engine accessories allowing the motor to get more power to the tires without needing more fuel
