4x4 shift solenoid

a long time ago i lost my 4x4. I would turn the switch and nothing would happen. No lights, no clicking, nothing. I'm suspecting the shift solenoid. I cant do the work to the truck, but I'm having my grandfather do it. I need to know where exactly it is and what the procedure is to change it. It would be awesome if I could get some detailed pictures so he can know exactly what hes doing.

thanks

the solenoid is actually a motor that is mounted on the back of the transfer case. well, at least on my 2001 f150. the hubs, if auto locking, are engaged by vaccum pressure. the motor looks alot like the power window motor. they are about 150.00 on ebay.

I have finally found some more threads on here and I'm going to be replacing the two solenoids behind the battery first and go from there.
