9.75 on the 5.4 engined. You can verify by looking at the tag on the diff. It will say something like 975 on it. If 8.8 it would have 88. It will have that plus the ratio.

Ebay. If you spend a little time, you can find some great deals. Also don't be afraid to buy used gears.

I bought my Motive gears from these people - they were great. They even included a mini-installation kit. Check them out yourself!

im not if its right or not but my programmer says my stock gears are 3.33. i pull a 4 horse horse trailer and im lookin for better pull on the bottom end. i say that to say this. has anyone put any 3.73 or 3.83 gears in a f150 4x4? does pull better? was it a tough swap? how did it effect highway travel (70+mph)? any input and or opinions would help.

If you are pulling 4 horses with a F-150, you need 4.10's at the VERY least - that's a pretty big load!

On a 4x4, plan on 1500 bucks for the parts and labor. Don't even try to change them yourself if you don't have the tools and training.

With 4.10's and 35 inch tires, it will be running 1925 rpm in overdrive at 70 mph. In 3rd it will be running 2750. With 35's, you might even consider 4.56's if you tow that big a load.

4.10s with 35s isn't worth it.

A lot of us run (or ran, in my case) 4.10s with street tires.

IMHO 4.56 with 35s at the least.
With a heavy load that I pulled often, I'd run 4.88s.
