02-f150 rear pinion seal replacement?

Be carefull
I was going to do the job myself on my 2001 4x4. Instead I took it to a local "general" repair shop to have the pinion and outers done due to leaking. Sounded like they would do a good job. Well they did not!. They didn't replace the crush collar. mistake #1. Re-torqued to spec (which crushed the collar further). Plus they forgot to put in friction modifier for my LS axle. Ended up burning out the pinion bearings.
If it were me. Find a good rear end shop or trans shop. They will do it right.
By the way my mistake cost me over $700. $300 by he first bone heads. The rest fix their mistake.
That said. If you do still want to do it yourself. Be sure to mark your drive your
driveshaft, and replace the crush collar and pinion nut along with the seal.
Good luck. I learned the hard way
