8.8 rear end questions
ok im looking at getting an LSD or Posi whatever you want to call it for my truck but i was wondering if i get a used rear end out of a fox mustang with the 8.8 and 31 spline axles will that fit into my diff and work on my 95 f150 4x4 with the 4.9l im not making any more power than stock so i dont need something amazingly strong i just need it for boat ramps and the soft stuff ya know? thanks for any help in advance

thanks for the info i wish when i posted more than one person would respond so i would know for sure because i find mustangs with the stock lsd rear end for sale all day for cheap.. if i put their lsd in can i still use my stock ring and pinion because i dont want to change my gear ratio because i dont have the money to change the front

What about axle lengths? The truck may be wider than the car. www.fullsizebronco.com has lots of good axle info. I thought the truck axles were 33 spline and longer.

i personally have not seen a 8.8 33spline, yes theres a few variances in axle widths. theres the 4.0 ranger which seems to be about 3" narrower than a 4.0 exploder. and i cant recall if those are the same width as f150 or not.
either which way as long as his splines match, and he's swapping carriers only he should be able to get away with resetting backlash and going with it.
edit: forgot theres the 7700lbs package which i know very minimal about.
