Changing diff. fluid

Changing diff. fluid
The dealship said it was $200.00 per axle to change the diff. fluid. I have a local guy who is only charging $70.00 for both (go figure). My question is this just a drain and fill job or is there more to it.I have an 07 Fx4 5.4 3v. I'm also going to use Royal Purple or Amsoil for the lube I do have LS so I will get a can of friction modifier from the dealership for the rear diff.

I really doubt that you'd have water in either diff, but since you want to be safe and change..........The rear doesn't have a drain plug. So, the cover has to be removed. More messy than those with a drain. Plus, now you have to be concerned about the chance of leak after the cover is put back on. Normally, no problems, but..........
The front has a drain plug. Easier to drain, but the fill hole can be a problem. Just can't pour the bottle in. Best to use some kind of pump, hand or mechanical, to get the fluid back in.
It can be a little time consuming, hence the difference in quoted prices. The dealrship is going by a price per hour book. Someone else charges otherwise.
You probably could do it yourself. It's not difficult. Just the cost of fluid.
Nice truck, btw.

Royal purple is 6 dollars cheaper than ford oil and has Friction modifier already in it. I would use that. 200 bucks per axle is a rip off. It shouldnt cost $400 to change differential oil.
As far as changing the oil at 65k, I had bad chatter in my rear end since about 42k. I changed mine at 60k and my truck rides so much smoother!!! Change the oil now, your truck will run so much better.
