rear end clunk

I have a 97, 4.6 4x4 and have some slop in the rear end that can be felt when I go from forward to reverse. The new u jays took out some of it but how much is normal for these limited slip rear ends.
thanks

could be several things. u-joints are typical. u replaced front and rear? should be golden there.
next thing, seems overlooked sometimes is the bolts to the companion flange. no loctite on them and they tend to work themselves loose.

or your slipyoke has too much play in the splines, should probably be replaced before it wears out the rear output shaft.
