Question Noisy drivtrain?

I have a 1992 F-150 302 V-8 extended cab. Since it was new it has had a clanking noise in the drive shaft. Sounded to me like it came from the rear end. After many trips to the dealer they said it was the drive shaft and it is normal because of the extended cab.Anyone else have this problem ,or have any thoughts? Thanks

Supercabs for the older fords usually have a 2 piece drive shaft. check the center carrier bearing and all u-joints.
