Question 1998 GVWR Option

I just purchased a used 1998 F150 XLT. The Original sticker shows this option:
6000# GVWR Package
What is it and what did I get with it?

Nothing special. I believe the 6000GVWR is standard. Weight of truck, plus all load in or on should not exceed 6000 lbs. That says nothing about towing, of course.

Cool

Thanks for the come back, but I think the package does include some features that increase the GVWR. In the 2000 F150 brochure the 6000# package includes an upgrade of the axle ratio to 3.55, styled wheels with Work Series, heavy-duty shocks and springs. So, I believe, it also added something to the 1998 F150. I guess I need to see a brochure on the 1998 F150. No dealers here still has one and I can not find a place on line to check it out. That is why I submitted the question to this forum.

The 6000# GVWR option was a $50 package that included heavy duty shocks and springs. The order code was 202 and REQUIRED, but did not include a 3.55 rear end and/or a 4.2L or 4.6L engine. Standard GVWR is 5550# for the 4.2L and 4.6L engines and 5700 for the 5.4L.

Thanks,
That appears to be my answer. The "and/or" on the axle ratio and size engine seems to be the confusion. I have the 4.6 V8 but with a 3.08 gear ratio. Based upon what you said, that is what I've got and they did not upgrade the gear ratio. Still not all bad, it did improve the GVWR. Thanks again...

Sorry, well, I live and learn. Didn't know there was an F-150 with GVWR UNDER 6000lbs! And I sure don't know why there is!

Let's clarify things; my other post is misleading. Here is what the options sheet says:
(requires axle ratio X19 or Xh9 and 992 4.2 liter Engine or 996 4.6 liter Engine)
(requires Manual Transmission 44M when in combination with 996 4.6 liter Engine)
Includes - H.D. Springs and H.D. Front and rear shock absorbers
I copied this with typos and all from my 1998 options sheet for a long bed regular cab. If you chose a 4.6L, automatic, and 3.55 rear end, for a cool $470 more (invoice $399) you could get a GVWR of 6500#. If you ordered the 5.4L, you could get a GVWR of 6200# for the same price as the 6500# on the 4.6L. I thought the 6000# option was quite a bargain at $50 when I ordered mine. It rides like a truck, that is VERY stiff as compared to the standard 5500# F150s that I've driven and doesn't sag like the others when loaded down.
