Think my tranny puked today

I have an '07 Supercrew 4.6 with 69,000 miles and have had a VMP custom tune in for about 6 months. I started the truck today after stopping for a few minutes on about a 45 minute drive and noticed a burning smell coming from the truck. When I started the truck again and put it in drive, it didn't go anywhere and I noticed a red puddle under the truck near where the transmission was.

Fortunately I have the extended 100K warranty so we had it towed into the dealer tonight. Puked tranny? I only tow my 3000 lb boat every few weeks with the truck and other than that, it's just a daily driver. I've done all the scheduled maintenance and treat the truck very well. Why could the tranny be doing this at only 69,000 miles? Thanks guys.

Can you give some more specifics?

Did you tow with overdrive on?

Have you ever had the tran fluid changed? At what mileage?

What temp did you tran temp run normally?

What are your driving habits? City % vs Hwy %

If a majority is city do you have OD on or do you lock it out?

Thanks, look forward to your response.

I would always disable OD when towing my boat. Keep in mind my boat is only about 3000 lbs total.

I would always change the tranny fluid at Ford's recommended intervals. Can't remember what those are but I would always have my oil and lube place do it because they had it in their system.

Don't have a trans temp guage on this truck.
What are your driving habits? City % vs Hwy %
Probably 60% city and 40% highway.
If a majority is city do you have OD on or do you lock it out?
I don't touch the OD when normal driving, only when towing.

Thanks for the questions and for the responses so far!
