gearin question

gearin question

I just put 305/65r/17 on my truck and noticed that it is a litttle doggy and i got 3.73's in it wat should i put in it for gears to help it. Wat will it do to my gas milage help it or hurt it.

What year, what engine, and what tranny? 2wd or 4wd?

4.27 for 33" tires
4.56 for 35" tires
per the gear chart you can use 4.56 with 33's so if you decied to go to 35's you'll still be set.

Those are 33's and 4.30 gears are not available for the front axle in 4x4's. With 4.56's you will lose gas mileage noticeably.

so you do need two sets of gears for a 4x4? if so say you have 4.88 in back what should you put in the other

4.88's. Tire sizes and gear ratios must match front to rear or you will bind everything up and break things when you put it in 4wd.

4.10's generally aren't worth it over 3.73's for the cost involved - it's about $1500 to get both axles done. A custom tune is a lot cheaper.
