Confused!

I have a 2003 F150 Screw. I am going to change the rear end gear oil. The owners manual says 75W 140, however the axle has a tag and a label that says use only FEHP 75W 90. What should I do? (Axle code 19)

What is FEHP 75W 90?

Use the 75w140. Ford changed their specs a couple of years ago to the 75w140. This is now their standard for the F150. And if you have a limited slip, do not forget the friction modifier.

Thanks. It has been in there for 6 years and 96,000 miles. Could it have caused any damage? It is not making any noise.

Should be fine. Rears are a fairly high mileage service unless in extreme service or water gets in.

Axle code 19 is 3.55 without limited slip. Use 75W140 full synthetic.

What engine do you have? If you have a 8.8 rear, the 75 W 90 may be the right lube.

I talked to guys at dealership and they said that 75W 90 should be replaced with 75W 140.
