But swapping in a D60 for a rear axle wouldnt be hard.
9.75 is slightly weaker than a D60... and has no where near the aftermarket that a D60 offers. The 9.75 also comes with a stupid 5x135mm bolt patter.
A built D60 is way stronger than any 9.75 that you can build.
Theres no such thing as overkill when you are running 39.5's. Full Floating axles offer more than load carrying Capabilities.
D60 VS 9.75 id take a D60 any day... hell id take a Ford 9" over a 9.75

But if you want to keep your wheels id say a well built ford 9" would be way better than your 8.8 and you can still run your wheels

You can take a 9" rear and convert it to a Front. You can also build a 9" front or rear out of total after market parts including the housing and tubes.
I thought about lowering my truck to clear narrow 40's and put it on built 9" axles to make it more of a crawler/ trail truck. Make it extremely flexible

I've looked into running a built 9" with 1 ton outers front and rear. got too pricey for me. when it hit the 4k mark lol
