8.8 to D60 swap ??

i have a 95 f160 with the 8.8 rear i was wondering if i got a D60 front the same year truck but a 3/4 ton or 1 ton if it would roll right up and bolt right in without any modifications

find a 9.75 from a truck up to 03 and it will be alot easier, as strong as a D60 in every way besides load carrying capability cause its not a full floater, which would be overkill on a halfton anyways...

The only thing that really would need to be changed is possibly the u-joints. The big difference would be the bolt pattern your truck is has the 5x5.5 D60's from that year will be 8x6.5. I think your biggest problem is the TTB frontend on that truck and id focus more on that.

But swapping in a D60 for a rear axle wouldnt be hard.

9.75 is slightly weaker than a D60... and has no where near the aftermarket that a D60 offers. The 9.75 also comes with a stupid 5x135mm bolt patter.

A built D60 is way stronger than any 9.75 that you can build.

Theres no such thing as overkill when you are running 39.5's. Full Floating axles offer more than load carrying Capabilities.

D60 VS 9.75 id take a D60 any day... hell id take a Ford 9" over a 9.75

they do. the GM 14 bolts use 8x6.5 and most can run 15" wheels. They are cheap too. Then for the front a D44 HD is a D44 with 8 lug outers i think you can run 15's on that.

But if you want to keep your wheels id say a well built ford 9" would be way better than your 8.8 and you can still run your wheels

yeah for what you are doing the 9" would be your best bet.

THEN when you get some money saved up throw a 9" front in there and be set. Currie makes a nice 9" front

They arent too bad considering what they are. Currie sell full axles and they also sell parts to

You can take a 9" rear and convert it to a Front. You can also build a 9" front or rear out of total after market parts including the housing and tubes.

I thought about lowering my truck to clear narrow 40's and put it on built 9" axles to make it more of a crawler/ trail truck. Make it extremely flexible

Aw no you overlook the true grace of the full floater... no more rear wheel passing the truck...

I've looked into running a built 9" with 1 ton outers front and rear. got too pricey for me. when it hit the 4k mark lol

get a sterling 10.25 it should bolt right were the 8.8 is in the rear and you got your VSS

in the front a Dana 44 or Dana 60 should fit in there with very lil mods.

probably lol.

the rear would be most compatable with the 10.25 since they offered it with the PSD that generation? but even that was 8 lug axle.
